My Living Las Vegas post this week focuses on SNAWA's celebration of its 30th anniversary.  Shelley Berkley, the first president of SNAWA, was the speaker.  In addition to war stories about being one of the few women attorneys in the bad old days of hte 70s, Shelley spoke about current issues.  It was a great luncheon, and I was very happy to see that the turnout was so huge, a different room had to be used.

Thanks to the success of SNAWA's programs and the generosity of its members, SNAWA was able to award three $2500 scholarships to BSL students for this year.

One of my various hats is as editor in chief of the Communiqué, CCBA’s publication. It is a job that has always been made much, much easier by the devotion and hard work of Stephanie Abbot, Communications Director of CCBA. (In fact, the truth is, she does nearly ALL the work – I mostly put commas in or take them away).

However, Stephanie recently made the decision to spend more time with her family and so is leaving CCBA.  I hate when that happens.

In the photo, taken at the January CCBA luncheon, CCBA Executive Director Eric Mann gives Stephanie a photo composite of all the Communiqué covers she  produced over the years. That was such a cool idea, Eric. I wish I had been clever enough to think of it.

Part 1 is devoted to the "Seven Steps to Effective Writing."  And yes, I really will be revealing all the secrets, heretofore known only to "real" writers, for effective written communication.  Honest!

Part 2 - Briefs on briefs, wherein I explain how to use fiction writing techniques for persuasive writing, will be July 6.

On August 3, I'll present Part 3 -  "Win Clients and impress Partners with Article Writing."  This CLE provides a step by step process for preparing articles for both public and legal consumption.
